Four (4) Simple Approaches to Keeping Your Body Healthy!
Being active is important in today’s often overly static work environment of being at a desk behind a computer. Getting out and exercising in a way that you enjoy is key, but it can be more challenging when you have muscle and joint pain.
A simple way to counteract those long days of computer or desk-related work is to add movement into your day. Here are some simple ways to improve your movement and possibly reduce muscle and joint pain throughout the day.
Motion is Lotion!
1) Set a timer for every 45-50 minutes to get up and do a quick lap around the room, walk to the bathroom, find the stairs and do a quick up/down flight.
2) During this 3-5 minute break time, while standing, bend forward toward your toes, backward, as well as side to side. This should help reduce that tension that tends to build up over the work day.
3) Drink an 8 oz glass of water during the time between your breaks, it will naturally help remind you to get up and move, generally with the first stop at the bathroom. If you can drink an 8-ounce glass of water per hour then you’re also hydrating your body with the needed water consumption throughout your workday.
4) Adding high-nutrient foods that help to reduce inflammation to your daily diet is also a great way to help you stay active and reduce muscle and joint pain.
